On June 21 President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting with the governors of Vitebsk and Grodno regions who briefed the Head of State on the progress in the collection of harvest in these regions.
To date the regions have harvested around 6 per cent of the grain crop and over 75 per cent of the winter rape. In the next day or two Vitebsk and Grodno regions will reach the stage of mass harvest of the grain crop with an average daily collection rate of 5 per cent, according to governors Alexander Kosinets and Semyon Shapiro.
Given the adverse weather conditions, the Head of State has instructed the governors to speed up the harvest and minimize grain loss. He has given orders to collect straw in a timely and efficient manner and use it as an organic fertilizer, and to choose the optimal time for sowing the winter rape and make sure it is done. Later this week the President will be making a working trip to Brest and Grodno regions, and next week he will be travelling to other regions of the country. |
