President Alexander Lukashenko has sent a letter of greetings to the guests and participants of the World Rowing Under 23 Championships.
'For the first time in its history Belarus welcomes a junior rowing competition of such a high level. And this honour and trust of the international community we have deserved in full. Without exaggeration, in our state there is a cult of health and physical culture, and the love of sport is truly popular. Over the years of independence Belarus has produced many fine athletes and has become a proud member of the Olympic community,’ said the President in his message of greetings.
Belarus has built many state-of-the-art sports facilities recently, which enables our country to host the most prestigious sports championships, said the Head of State. Among these facilities there is the wonderful rowing course in Brest where last year a European rowing championship was held and this year over 1,500 young rowers from 59 countries will compete for gold medals. ‘May Belarusian water seethe with the noble passion for victory, and may the fair and uncompromising competition bring victory to the strongest. To the participants of the competition, I wish inexhaustible energy and strong character, belief in themselves, self-control, perseverance and success; to the spectators, to cheer for their favourite teams; and to all of you, I wish health, happiness and festive mood,’ said Alexander Lukashenko in his letter of greetings. |
