On Introducing Amendments and Alterations to Decrees of the President of the Republic of Belarus No 285 of 19 May 1999 and No 631 of 23 October 2006

The purpose of this legal enactment is to enhance the role of the antimonopoly and price watchdogs responsible for countering unfair competition.

The Decree envisages a reorganization of the existing structure of the economy committees of the regional executive committees and Minsk City Executive Committee by making the price regulation departments of these committees directly subordinate to the senior officials of these executive committees.

As a result, antimonopoly watchdogs will be created at the local level, which will be able to make a full use of the instruments stipulated in the legislation.

This move will increase the influence of the State on antimonopoly and price processes, enhance the efficiency of the local goods markets and make the measures to counter unfair competition more effective.
