On Increasing the Amount of Certain Types of Monthly Student Allowance

Decree No 89 increases by 10 per cent as of 1 January 2010 the amount of monthly student allowances for students pursuing degrees in the following areas of academic specialization: nuclear physics and technology, radiation chemistry, radio chemistry, electronic gauging and control systems at nuclear power plants, steam turbine installations at nuclear power plants, construction of heat and nuclear power plants, nuclear and radiation safety.

The purpose of the increase is to drum up the interest of the Belarusian youth in pursuing careers in these areas of specialization which, although complex and hazardous, are nevertheless essential for the state.

The Decree also increased the Republic of Belarus presidential monthly student allowances by Br100,000 to Br300,000, thus bringing their amount in conformity with the other types of state-sponsored student allowances.
