The President of the Republic of Belarus has conferred state awards on a number of Belarusian citizens in recognition of their high professionalism and great personal contribution to science, healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, oil transport, physical culture and sport. The related Decree was signed by Alexander Lukashenko on 5 January.

The President conferred an Order of Honour on Pavel Apanasevich, chief research officer at the nonlinear optics laboratory of the B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The Distinction in Labour Medal was conferred on Nikolai Babets, head of the sport department at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, and on a number of employees who work for Belmedpreparaty and Gomeltransneft Druzhba.

The head of the obstetrics and gynaecology chair at Vitebsk State Medical University Decorated with the State Order of the Friendship of Peoples, Sergei Zanko, was decorated with the Medal of Francysk Skaryna.
