By his Decree, the President of the Republic of Belarus has approved the Provisions regulating the procedure of conferring the anniversary medal "65^th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" and also approved a sample of the medal certificate.

The medal has been established pursuant to the Resolution of the Council of the CIS Heads of State of 10 October 2008 on the Uniform Anniversary Medal "65^th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".

The medal will be conferred on the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, members of the public veterans’ associations, and on the former prisoners of concentration camps, prisons, ghettos and other places of forced imprisonment established by the Nazis and their allies during World War II. The anniversary medal will also be conferred on the members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, and on the members of other forces and military units, as well as on civil servants and other persons who have contributed greatly to heightening the sense of patriotism and awareness of the nation’s great heroic past in Belarusian citizens, commemorating the fallen, organising the events to celebrate the 65^th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
