The President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has extended his sincere condolences to the family and friends of Viktor Liventsev, Hero of the Soviet Union, in connection with his death.

‘This remarkable man lived a long and glorious life of a defender of his Fatherland and creator of the future of his country,’ runs the letter of condolence. ‘Viktor Ilyich had a very strong character and firm beliefs, participated actively in social life and contributed to educational work with the youth. His great services to the Motherland have been honoured by many high awards.’
