On 25 September, the President of the Republic of Belarus signed Decree No 477 ‘On Some Issues of the Activity of Individual Entrepreneurs and On Introducing Amendments to Decree No 194 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 15 April 2009’.

The purpose of this document is to encourage individual entrepreneurs to intensify their export operations and to address a whole range of issues related to the selling by individual entrepreneurs of goods produced in the Republic of Belarus. This is another step toward liberalisation of the Belarusian economy.

By 1 July 2010, a special legislative framework will have been created in Belarus for the individual entrepreneurs who export goods that are produced in the Republic of Belarus and purchased from Belarusian manufacturers of these goods and sell them abroad.

The implementation of this Decree will further encourage entrepreneurship in Belarus, help reduce warehouse overstocks and expand the export of Belarusian goods.

The Decree comes into force ten days after its official publication with the exception of some of its provisions.
