National ideology should be built on the foundation of Christian values, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in the course of his meeting with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

‘It is our belief that the potential of the Orthodoxy, the opportunities for expanding its influence in the society are still tremendous. By joint efforts, we have managed to overcome the consequences of the period of faithlessness and nihilism. Today it is very important to continue the interaction between the state and the Church toward consolidating the moral foundations of the society, preserving cultural heritage and promoting social serving. The Belarusians, who know the cost of war and hardships, will never betray the unity of Slavonic peoples, the unity that is based on Orthodox traditions and culture,’ said Alexander Lukashenko in the course of the meeting.
