President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of writer Vasily Aksyonov in connection with his passing.

‘Vasily Aksyonov has made an enormous contribution to modern literature. His creative work was based on the ideals of freedom, humanism, and respect for one’s personality. His works are distinguished the sophisticated and multifaceted perception of the world, by his striving to apprehend complex philosophical and social problems, teach people to keep their dignity in all situations, to live in accordance with the laws of conscience and honour,’ said the President in his letter of condolence.

‘Vasily Pavlovich has earned the respect of his readers for his tireless search for what is right and what is wrong, for his loyalty to his convictions in the hardest and most tragic circumstances,’ said the Head of State.
