In pursuance of the instructions given by the Head of State, the Presidential Administration held a comprehensive inspection of a number of executive and regulatory bodies in the town of Grodno and Grodno Region. The purpose was to see how the bodies were fulfilling Presidential Ordinance No 2, which formulated measures to debureaucratise state machinery, to look at the one-stop-shop principle in action, and to see how the work with appeals from the citizens was organised.
The inspection was held without prior notice. The Grodno and Grodno Region authorities expected the Administration representatives to have a series of scheduled meetings with workers at a number of companies and receive a number of citizens coming with personal matters, which they did at OAO Molochny Mir, among other companies.
But the Administration representatives, unexpectedly to Grodno officials, held an inspection into how the region was tackling debureaucratisation issues. This approach makes it possible to see how Presidential orders are fulfilled in reality.
‘The work with appeals from the citizens is a key criterion for assessing the efficiency of state bodies,’ said the head of the Presidential Administration, Vladimir Makei. ‘Formalism and indifference to people are absolutely inadmissible; severe punitive measures will be applied to those responsible for such things, up to their dismissal from executive offices,’ said Mr Makei. He also reiterated the President’s demand to give more attention to people, to their problems and questions. |
