On 10 April, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in Moscow. The President said he intended to tell the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church about the current state of affairs in the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
‘I would like to tell you about the state of affairs in the Belarusian Orthodox Church, what problems it faces and how these problems are being dealt with; about the developments in the fraternal Belarusian land which you know very well’, said Alexander Lukashenko.
Patriarch Kirill said, ‘It is with great pleasure that I am meeting with you today. Belarus is a spiritual part of the united sacred Rus, which has always had a great significance for the entire civilisation community. The Orthodox Church is the force that binds our peoples’.
