| The President of the Republic of Belarus has approved the membership of the national organising committee for the celebrations to mark the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the Head of State approved the rules of procedure of the organising committee and the plan of preparation of the events to mark the two historic dates. These decisions are reflected in a Decree signed by the President on 25 February.

| On 25 February, the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, met with Pyotr Prokopovich, the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, to receive his report. The banking and financial systems of Belarus are stable; the exchange rate of the national currency is rising; all the targets laid down in the basic guidelines of the monetary and credit policy of the Republic of Belarus for 2008 are being met, said Pyotr Prokopovich.
