By his Decree, the President of the Republic of Belarus has approved the State Programme on Countering Human Trafficking, Illegal Migration and Unlawful Deeds Related Therewith 2008-2010.

The main aim of the programme is to ensure planned and coordinated work of government bodies and other governmental organisations in countering human trafficking, illegal migration and unlawful deeds related therewith, as well as in removing the roots of these socially dangerous phenomena.

The programme gives major importance to efforts aimed at preventing and precluding such grave violations of the law as human trafficking, dissemination of pornography involving children, prostitution, and the violation of the law committed by using the great potential of the Internet under the veneer of recuperation and education trips abroad for the underage youths.

To keep track of how the programme is being fulfilled, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be collecting and summarising the information related to the fulfilment of the programme. Every year, by 15 February, the Minister of Internal Affairs is to report to the President on the progress in implementing the programme.
