The Purpose of the Armed Forces
“The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus are a structural element of the military organization of the state, which is aimed at guaranteeing military security and armed protection of the Republic of Belarus, of its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.”

The Armed Forces constitute the basis of the military organization of the state.
The Armed Forces are composed of:
central organs of military command;
branches of the Armed Forces;
combat arms branches;
special troops;
military training institutions and organizations of the Ministry of Defence.
The central organs of military command comprise the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Organizationally, the General Staff is structured into the Ministry of Defence.
The branches of the Armed Forces are:
Land Forces;
Air Force and Air Defence Troops.
