On October 27, the President of the Republic of Belarus signed into action Decree No 636 “On some measures on training Belarusian athletes for 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games.”
With a view of creating proper conditions for the training of Belarusian athletes, there have been established prizes for medal winners at the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing (China) in 2008 and the 21st Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver (Canada) in 2010, and fees for coaches in charge of training these athletes. Thus, athletes and coaches will receive USD 100 000 for a gold medal, USD 50 000 for a silver medal, and USD 30 000 for a bronze medal. These arrangements will help move closer to the international standards of material encouragement regarding high quality athletes.
The fees to the coaches ensuring the training of the Belarusian athletes who will capture medals at the 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games shall be exempt from income tax. |
