On September 1, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made a working trip to Brest region. The Head of State surveyed from helicopter how the harvesting process was moving on in Minsk and Brest regions.
The same day, the Belarusian leader attended the opening ceremony of the Polesie State University in Pinsk.
This institution of higher learning was established in pursuance of the Presidential Decree on the basis of the reorganized Pinsk State Higher Banking College and the Pinsk branches (now abolished) of the Belarusian State Economic University and the Private Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship. 983 first-year students were admitted for studies, including 426 for diurnal studies and 557 extramural students. Presently, the number of students studying at the University is 3 990.
The University has two faculties: economic studies and banking. They will be training specialists in a number of professions: “economy and management at enterprises,” “accounting, analysis and audit,” “commercial activities,” “finances and crediting.”
The Belarusian leader emphasized that the opening of the Polesie State University is one of the directions towards implementation of the strategic course of Belarus aimed at development of the provinces, small and medium towns. |
