| With a view to increasing the financial well-being of pensioners and preserving the tendency towards higher pensions which are comparable to growing earnings of the workers of economic sectors, President of the Republic of Belarus signed into action Decree No 274 of April 25, 2006 on raising employment pensions by 7 percent on average, starting from May 1, 2006. The average retirement pension will amount to Br 258800. |

| Head of State Makes a Two-Day Working Trip to Gomel Region |
| On April 25, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko started his two-day working trip to Gomel region. Following the tradition, on the eve of the Chernobyl nuclear accident anniversary, the Head of State visited the areas affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
During his trip, the President surveyed the progress in the spring field work in Kalinkovichi district of Gomel region, specifically the sowing of corn crops for seeds at the agricultural production cooperative (APC) “Druzhba-Avtyuki.”

| The Easter holiday is a reminder and evidence that every one of us can arouse in oneself the best spiritual qualities, fill one’s hearts with love, make a step towards each other, towards cohesion in performing good deeds for the sake of a better future. These were the words with which President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko addressed the clergy and compatriots during the Easter Divine Service at the Cathedral of the Holy Ghost in Minsk on April 23.
