The State provides constant support and care for the Great Patriotic War veterans, makes every effort to ensure proper living conditions for them.
Decree No 135 signed into action by President of the Republic of Belarus on 17 March “On providing financial aid to some categories of citizens in connection with commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War” is also aimed at improving socio-economic conditions of the war veterans.
In conformity with the document the financial aid will be granted both to the war veterans and other categories of citizens who were affected by the aftermaths of the war. Thus, the payments are stipulated to Heroes of the Soviet Union and awardees of the Order of Glory of three classes, Heroes of the Socialist Labour who were honored with this title for their services during the Great Patriotic War, invalids and participants of the Great Patriotic War, as well as persons who as part of special formations were taking part in demining operations for the areas and buildings after the liberation from the Nazi occupation in 1943-1945.
Financial aid will also be granted to the citizens awarded USSR orders and medals for their selfless labour and flawless military service in the rear during the Great Patriotic War, and also to those who were working at the facilities of air defence, local air defence, at the construction sites of defence fortifications, naval bases, airports and other military facilities within the rear borders of the active fronts, and to the crew members of transport ships interned at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War in the ports of other states. |
