By Decree of President of the Republic of Belarus No 37 of January 22 "On Some Measures for the Training of Belarusian Athletes for the Olympic and ParaOlympic Games of 2004 and 2006," there has been fixed the worth of prizes for the Belarusian athletes who win medals at the 28th Summer Olympic Games, 12th ParaOlympic Games of 2004 in Athens (Greece) and the 20th Winter Olympic Games, 9th ParaOlympic Games in Turin (Italy), as well as the remuneration of coaches who ensure training of these athletes.
An Olympic gold medal is worth $ 60 thousand, a silver medal is worth $ 30 thousand, a bronze medal is worth $ 20 thousand. The worth of prizes at the ParaOlympic games is $ 12 thousand, $ 6 thousand, and $ 4 thousand respectively.
Head of the State directed the local executive and administrative authorities to take measures to ensure proper training of the athletes of the national teams of Belarus for the Olympic and ParaOlympic Games, to strengthen and develop the material and technical basis of schools of optimal sports technique, Olympic reserve schools, centers for Olympic training, sports clubs, and to create favourable social and life conditions for the athletes, coaches and specialists of the Belarus national teams. |
