Alexander Lukashenko arrives in Ecuador on official visit28.06.2012

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in Ecuador on the official visit.

This is the first official visit of the Belarusian head of state to Ecuador in the history of bilateral relations.

The President's plane landed at the airport in Quito. The ceremony of official welcome of the President of Belarus was held at the airport.

The President of Belarus also laid wreath at the Monument of the Heroes of independence in Quito.

On 28 June Alexander Lukashenko will meet with President of Ecuador Rafael Correa Delgado. After the negotiations there are plans to sign a number of international documents.

Ecuador has an important place in Belarus' plans to develop trade and economic relations with Latin America. Belarus-Ecuador bilateral trade is mostly carried out through the third countries. The trade volume is rather small. However, within past five years the bilateral trade doubled to reach $47 million in 2011.

The heads of state are expected to discuss joint projects. The economic potential of the two countries testifies to the possibility to boost bilateral cooperation in economy, science, technology, education, etc.

Belarus has a huge sci-tech and industrial potential and is ready to supply a wide range of goods to Ecuador at reasonable prices. Belarus can export, first of all, dump trucks, agricultural equipment, tractors, road construction equipment, passenger vehicles, mineral fertilizers, machines, tires, chemical fibers, optics and electronics.
