Dear fellow countrymen,
I extend to you my warm greetings on the occasion of Victory Day.
This will forever remain one of the most significant dates in our nation’s history. No battle was fiercer in the heroic past of Belarus than the Great Patriotic War. No deed was greater than the feat of the Soviet soldiers who defended their Homeland against the enemy and saved the world from Nazism.
The Belarusians, like no other nation, know the price of peace and value honor and freedom of their Homeland above everything else. We will never forget not only the courage, heroism and bravery of soldiers and workers of the rear but also the grief of war losses. Millions of Belarusians fell on battlefields in fierce combat in an effort to bring closer the happy day of nationwide celebration and glory - the day of the Great Victory.
Dear veterans,
We have an irredeemable debt to you. We bow deep before and thank everyone who suffered through it all and deserved the Victory. Having defeated Nazism, you gave us a chance to choose our own path of development and build a decent future for Belarus.
Today the descendants of the generation of the victors are responsible for the wellbeing and security of the country. We will continue to stand united and strong in spirit to make our common home a better place.
I extend my sincere wishes of peace, wellbeing and happiness to you, dear fellow countrymen. Alexander Lukashenko
