On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the town of Loyev President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated the toilers and veterans of that land.

That district centre is one of the most beautiful population centres in Belarus. It has a glorious history marked by feats of arms and labour. During the Great Patriotic War, the Red Army warriors distinguished themselves by outstanding heroism in liberating the district, 279 of them being honoured with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

The message of felicitation points out that the residents of Loyev hold dear the memory of the heroic past and their good deeds augment the heritage of the preceding generations.
